BFG KO3 launched

BF Goodrich Tyres invented the all-terrain tyre back in 1976 (At OTA, we remember it!). The latest development is the 2024 T/A KO3 tyre. 

Building on the success of the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tyre, BFGoodrich developed the KO3 tyre with even stronger performance and benefits the Michelin-owned company said. 

The All-Terrain T/A KO3 tyre was claimed to outperform the KO2 in tread wear, toughness and traction.

“We’ve done a lot of racing and research in the 10 years since we launched the KO2 tyre, so a decade of data, feedback, technology and experience went into the development of the KO3 tyre,” said Harold Phillips, BFGoodrich global general manager.

BFGoodrich Australia planned to introduce more than 60 sizes over 24 months, starting in late-2024, with the most popular sizes and load ratings. Around 45 sizes had been introduced by February 2025.

The All-Terrain T/A KO3 tyre came with a new tread pattern and tread compound, to provide durability and longevity, even on gravel. The KO3 tyre had an optimised footprint and full-depth 3D locking sipes, designed for even wear.

CoreGard Technology gave the KO3 tyre sidewall toughness and the Advanced Deflection Design helped prevent objects from snagging and splitting the sidewall. 

Serrated shoulder design and ‘Mud-Phobic Bars’ were said to improve upon the KO2 tyre’s mud and snow traction and the new tread compound improved wet-road traction. In braking tests the KO3 was said to improve stopping distance by 4.2 metres, compared with the KO2.
