Screw-in tent / awning pegs make setting and retrieving pegs a piece of cake.
The Mi Lite steel screw-in pegs are quite different from anything we’ve tested before. For a start, they’re specifically intended for use in very hard ground that’s typical of many Australian campsites. Most standard tent pegs bend when they’re hammered into rocky ground.
The Mi Lite screw-in pegs are 200mm in length and are made from hardened steel. The rope-clips that are used in conjunction with the pegs are made from stainless steel. These screw-in tent pegs suit most Australian camping conditions, with threads that are very difficult to damage. (rope springs are not included)
We’ve tested these screw-in pegs extensively and they’re a permanent part of our camping kit. The rope-clip can also be flipped over on the peg and can be screwed into the ground to hold ground sheets in place.
With drive from a portable battery drill the screw-in pegs go happily into any ground we’ve come across so far, including gibber country where previously we’ve had to use big rocks, rather than pegs, to anchor our awning ropes.
Some pegs have recessed torq or crosshead drive heads that clog quickly with dirt or burr to the point where they’re unusable. Mi Lite pegs have hex heads that last for the life of the peg.
