CAMPING - CAMPER SLIDE-ON
Zone RV is best known for its high-tech caravans, but the Queensland-based company has branched out into top-shelf canopy and rear skirt modules for utes and converted wagons.
Strictly speaking this canopy module isn’t a slide-on, because it’s a fixed installation, but we’ve included it in this section because it can be factory fitted-out with more mod cons than most slide-ons.
Construction is Zone’s resin-bonded, closed-cell-composite that integrates the floor and subframe with the skirt and mudguard sections. Laser-cut aluminium is employed for corner joins and protect ion plates.
As with its caravans, Zone uses Panelock Bonding Technology to ensure that the FRP canopy is crack-proof, leak and dust free, and it comes with a three-year
warranty.
Caravan-quality insulation and sound deadening is standard, as are a two-pack colour-coded finish and electric side-door locks.
The standard designs are 1700mm or 2000mm length canopy and skirt assemblies, with lift-up side doors, skirt compartments and rear-wall, spare-wheel carrier capacity. Pricing starts around $17,500.
Base-specification are weights are impressive, at 200kg and 240kg, respectively.
Customising is possible, to suit the Z-UEV for different vehicles, including tray-back-converted LandCruiser 200s, North American utes and stretched wheelbase three-axle conversions.
As befits a caravan builder, the options list is exhaustive, including a roof-top tent; roof racks, rear ladder; rear-view camera; awnings; side walls; work lights; fridge slides; fridge drawers; internal fittings and storage modules; diesel space heater; water tank and pump; outdoor shower; lithium batteries and charger; air compressor; solar panels; power outlets; ventilating fan and entertainment systems.
