GMC Yukon

GMC Australia & New Zealand released the Yukon wagon in May 2025. The Australian market launch model was in highly-specified ‘Denali’ trim.

The Yukon Denali is a seven-seat wagon that employs similar body-on-frame construction to that used in the GMC ute range, but with multi-link independent rear suspension replacing the ute’s live axle.

Power comes from a 313kW (420 horsepower)/623Nm, 6.2-litre V8 petrol engine, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Also available in the USA is a 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel engine option, with 227kW (305 horsepower) and 670Nm of torque, but that’s not being offered Down Under. Under light loads and conditions, the EcoTec3’s Dynamic Fuel Management system can deactivate four cylinders, reducing petrol use and increasing total range.

As the flagship of the brand, the 2025 Yukon raises the bar for GMC’s distinctive and premium design. The Yukon’s interior blends luxury and technology, and is dominated by a 16.8-inch Premium GMC Infotainment Centre, with a vertical interface that allows users to customise the integration of maps, audio inputs, and vehicle diagnostics into a diagonal screen display. An available eight-inch rear climate control touchscreen also helps ensure a comfortable cabin environment for passengers.

The 2025 GMC Yukon exterior also commands attention via various grille patterns, tailgate badging, animated headlamps and tail lamps, and an available panoramic sunroof.

The Denali package includes 24-inch, eight-spoke machined wheels with laser etching; 16-way powered heated and ventilated massaging front seats and second-row Executive Seating; wood décor with laser-etched topographical patterns; chrome accents and leather steering wheel rim; and Bose Performance Series sound system with up to 22 speakers, including stainless-steel head restraint speakers in the front row.

The 2025 Yukon delivers an enhanced suite of advanced technology, safety and driver assistance features, including available Night Vision – giving drivers more confidence in low-light environments – using thermal object detection to highlight pedestrians and animals via the head-up display and driver information centre.

The 2025 Yukon comes with: Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking; Rear Cross Traffic Braking; Side Bicyclist Alert and Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking.

A ‘presence-based’, hands-free tailgate automatically opens in the presence of the key fob. 

North American-market Yukons feature Super Cruise — the industry’s first hands-free advanced driver assistance system with the largest operating domain that is expected to grow to around 750,000 miles of roads in the USA and Canada by the end of 2025. Yukon owners with Super Cruise will be able to experience the industry’s first hands-free trailering technology.

With a towing capability of up to 3630kg, the Yukon’s suite of available trailering technologies includes: trailer length calibration; Blind Zone Steering Assist that can provide a brief, firm turn of the steering wheel when a potential crash is detected with a moving vehicle in a side blind zone; Transparent Trailer View that uses a tailgate-mounted camera and an auxiliary trailer camera to ‘see through’ a compatible trailer; Trailer Reverse Trajectory that adds rearward guidelines to track the path of the trailer when backing up; Trailer Tire Health that enhances the Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System by adding leak detection, tire life monitor and over-speed warning and Jackknife Alert that tracks the position of the compatible trailer in relation to the vehicle, to warn the driver.

The 3630kg towing capacity is dependent on the use of the supplied 70mm towball and weight-distribution bars.

GMSV offered the GMC Yukon Denali at dealerships in Australia , in May 2025, with pricing starting at a heady 175 grand.
