BUYERS GUIDE - UTES & CAB CHASSIS LARGE
Performax, an importer and converter of American vehicles for almost 25 years, completed compliance engineering on the Tundra, allowing it to be registered in every State and Territory in Australia.
The 2014 Tundra’s powerplant was Toyota’s aluminium, 5.7-litre, four-cam petrol V8, producing 284kW and 543Nm and was mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and on-demand four-wheel drivetrain.
The Tundra was rated to tow four tonnes, more than mainstream 4WD wagons and utes.
The 2014 Tundra was available in Platinum and 1794 Edition models, and pricing started at $118,990, plus on-road charges.
Blind spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert (RCTA) and a reversing camera were standard.
The interior was upgraded with a new dash, instruments, steering wheel and centre console, and luxury leather upholstery. The infotainment system was able to convert smartphone text messages and emails to voice.
Vehicles were available directly from Performax International or from dealers in Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia.
Performax International has 30 years’ experience importing and re-engineering American vehicles to full Australian Design Rule compliance, with work completed to ISO 9001 Quality Assurance standards.
