A 2024 newcomer from China.

The JAC Motors T9 Ute is the first small commercial vehicle from this Chinese corporation. Hopefully, build quality and reliability are much better than in the case of the first JAC  trucks that came Down Under in 2011.

JAC Motors sold a claimed 592,000 vehicles in 2023, across 132 countries and now has the Australian market in its sights.

Powered by a 125kW/410Nm two-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine, paired with an eight-speed auto transmission and dual-range transfer case, the T9 has claimed combined cycle fuel consumption of 7.6L/100km.

The T9 has GVM of 3055kg, claimed tare of only 2055kg and 3.5t braked towing capacity. Its practical tub is capable of fitting a full-size pallet.

The T9 rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and the interior features quilted leather-faced seats, wireless phone charging and a 10.4-inch touchscreen entertainment system complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Safety features include lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist and blindspot detection. Front, centre, rear and curtain airbags are fitted.

Distribution of JAC Motors’ vehicles is by LTS Auto, backed by a network of 40 dealers nationwide.

The JAC T9 Ute top spec’ Haven has an MSRP of $45,630 and the base model Oasis has an MSRP of $42,662. Both models come with a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

We’ve requested a road test vehicle, so watch this space.
