On 1st April, 2025, Scania unveiled its best-kept global secret: a ute that it billed as being Tough enough for the worksite; flash enough for the weekend. 

No-one saw this coming: Scania’s all-new V8 Ute – Built the Scania way. We should have expected it, perhaps, because Scania has kept the V8 flag flying in the heavy truck scene, while all its competitors have given up and opted for safe, boring, in-line sixes. Long live the V8, we say.

Scania’s V8 technology means that the latest diesel has whopping 770bhp and no less than 3300Nm of peak torque. That makes Yank utes’ 1000-1200Nm look pretty tame, eh?

“After years of dominating the heavy haulage game, we’re proud to unveil our boldest move yet – the all-new Scania V8 Ute,” a Scania spokesperson told OTA. 

“Same legendary grunt and same badge of honour, but just a little closer to the ground.

“It’s been designed for those who want the power of a truck, with the practicality of a ute and is the perfect mix of muscle and manoeuvrability.”

OTA has joined the long list of websites queuing up for a road test – some time after 1st April.
