Isuzu trucks lead the Australian market – again
Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) has once again retained its position as the country’s foremost truck brand, achieving its 36th consecutive year as market leader.

Isuzu’s long-standing reign at the top coincides with a third straight year of record total sales across the Australian truck market, with 51,277 trucks and heavy vans delivered in 2024: 3520 units more than the previous year.
There was a total of 13,402 Isuzu trucks sold, giving the brand a share of 26.1 percent: one of its strongest ever results.
For Outback Travel Australia website visitors the significant Isuzu truck models are 4x4s: NLS, NPS and heavier-payload FSS and FTS models that are covered in detail in our Buyers Guide section.
Confusingly, IAL has no corporate relationship with Isuzu Ute Australia that sells the D-MAX and MU-X range of 4x4s. In fact, Isuzu Ute is owned by Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation – not Mitsubishi Motors – and uses Isuzu light truck engines in its utes and wagons.
In 2024 Isuzu Trucks achieved number one in the light-duty segment, with 6805 sales and in the medium-duty segment the brand dominated, with total sales of 4116 units, for a massive 50.6 percent market share.
Isuzu is upgrading its entire truck range for 2025 and we’ll have details, pricing and tests of the N and F Series 4×4 trucks as soon as the new vehicles become available.
