We’re indebted to the US Magazine Road & Track for an alert to a patent application by Stellantis – Jeep’s owner – for a roof-top tent module for Wranglers with removable roof panels.

The idea is shown in an application to the US Patent and Trademark Office, filed in June 2023 and published in January 2025. It shows a small pop-up tent that bolts directly to the Wrangler and allows access via the space left when the Freedom Top panel is lifted from the Wrangler.

The descriptive drawing shows the access portal over the front seats, double bed and two-kids’ mattress layout, swing-out awning, solar panels and roof rails. 

Such an innovation could help boost flagging Wrangler sales, we reckon.
