Redarc Electronics has released the next generation of its award-winning BCDC in-vehicle battery charger that’s designed, built and tested in Australia.
Redarc’s managing director,
Anthony Kittel, said: “Charging auxiliary batteries from solar or a vehicle alternator has never been easier.
“The new 25-amp BCDC has separate vehicle DC and solar inputs, simplifying installation.
“The unit can charge from solar and the vehicle’s alternator simultaneously and, with inbuilt ‘Green Power Priority’, the BCDC selects solar charging first, taking the load off the vehicle’s alternator.”
With an increasing number of 12-volt electrical devices being used when travelling, along with today’s more complex vehicle electrical systems, having the right battery charging solution is essential.
Mr Kittel said the new BCDC charger can be used with standard or variable-voltage, ‘smart’ alternators and operates with 12- or 24-volt electrical systems.
“The new BCDC in-vehicle battery charger can charge AGM, GEL, standard lead-acid and calcium batteries as well as Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries, ensuring that the charger can be used well into the future,” he said.
The award winning technology in the BCDC has been independently verified and tested to ensure battery life is maximised by charging the battery to 100 percent, Redarc said.
All Redarc battery chargers are well protected, incorporating dual-battery isolation functionality, as well as fault recognition that includes protection against voltage spikes, overheating and reverse polarity.
Compact and fully sealed against water and dust ingress, and vibration resistant, the BCDC chargers are capable of handling the roughest tracks in the Outback. At Outback Travel Australia we can vouch for that claim, having tested different Redarc BCDCs and the Manager30 on the worst tracks we could find, including the Anne Beadell.
With an operating temperature rating up to 80°C a BCDC can be installed virtually anywhere in a vehicle or camper, including an engine bay.
Redarc products come with a two-year warranty and are supported by nationwide after-sales advice and service.
Redarc has also introduced an expanding range of vehicle-specific mounting brackets, to allow easy fitment of BCDC chargers.
The first releases were for current-shape Toyota 200 Series, Prado, 70 Series and HiLux, as well as for Holden Colorado and Isuzu D-MAX utes.
