4WD MODIFICATIONS - ELECTRIC & LIGHTS
Narva’s EX2 LED driving lamps and bars combine performance and durability, with a wide range of colour customisation options. Patented switching does away with the need for a wiring harness.
The EX2 LED lamps replaced the Explora range in mid-2023 and were available in four-, six-, seven- and nine-inch diameters that sit below the Ultima 180 Mk2 and 215 Mk2 LED lights in the Narva range. They were priced accordingly, around $550 and $699 per pair for the seven and nine-inch lights, respectively.
EX2 lamps came standard with Electric and Slate interchangeable trim colours and six more trim colours were available (Sunburst, Volcano, Juiced, Hyper, Bubblegum and Stealth) to order on-line at no extra cost.
All EX2s had high-power 5W ‘Cree’ LEDs , giving outputs that varied from one Lux at 220 metres for the four-inch lights to one Lux at 700m in the case of the nine-inchers.
A huge benefit of the EX2 range was the ease of DIY installation. A revolutionary, patented internal switching system eliminated a wiring harness and no connecting wires had to be pushed through the firewall. With positive-switched vehicles, the lamps were simply patched into the high beam wire and fused directly to the battery: only three wires needed to be connected.
Designed, engineered and tested in Australia, the EX2 range was built to withstand demanding local conditions, incorporating a pressure die-cast aluminium housing and hard-coated polycarbonate lens that were sealed to IP68 and IP69K standards for water and dust ingress. Durable composite mounting brackets and stainless-steel mounting hardware came with Allen-key adjustability.
Light bar and colour options
In late 2023, LED light bars were added to Narva’s EX2 range of round driving lights. The EX2 LED bar range included 10-, 20- and 30-inch single and double row models.
A three-inch pod light was also available.
As with the driving lights, the EX2 LED bars featured high-power 5W ‘Cree’ LEDs that delivered lighting penetration and width without dark or hot spots.
Brightness ranged from 1 Lux at 284 metres up to 1 Lux at 724m. The 30-inch double-row bar has 1 Lux at a width of 100m.
A major attraction of the EX2 was high customisation, with EX2 lamps and bars coming standard with eight interchangeable trim colours.
Narva also offered an ‘R’ spec, featuring an ADR-approved, white, front position light that had RGB – red, green and blue – technology, allowing up to 48 light colours to be created by mixing the three, via a phone app Controller Kit.
The expanded EX2 range was designed, engineered and tested in Australia, using pressure die-cast aluminium housings; UV-resistant, hard-coated polycarbonate lenses and stainless steel mounting hardware, with Allen key adjustment.
All EX2s were sealed to IP68 and IP69K for water and dust ingress.
The EX2 range’s internal switching system (patent pending) did away with the need for a wiring harness or for any connecting wires to pass through the firewall.
The Narva EX2 and EX2R LED driving lamps and light bars are backed by a seven-year warranty (see website for details) and could be purchased from leading automotive, four-wheel drive and transportation outlets nationwide.
